F2P and Velious

Copyright 2010 Sony Online Entertainment

Sorry, no witty title today.

There are two things I would like to talk about.

1) F2P – I understand the debate. I can foresee the inevitable server merges that might result after some people decide to move over to the F2P servers. What I would like to state, and granted, this is my own opinion, is that it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The only bad part about server mergers is that other people, with better stats, might be able to supplant those in the top spots on the server that doesn’t move.
Back when I used to play the first EQ, my server, Bristlebane, merged with Solusek Ro. There were several other mergers that occured. However, if you take a look, they are still releasing expansions. That suggests to me that server mergers don’t necessarily spell the end for a game. Continue reading ‘F2P and Velious’

Pieces of Fate

Yet another obscure reference, this time to Game Update #53: Shards of Destiny (which will release in late September).

Here is what EQ2 Players had to say about it (EQ2 Players comments in bold, mine in italics): Continue reading ‘Pieces of Fate’

A Carnival of Air Circulators

Yes, the title is an obscure way of referring to Fan Faire. (And as you have no doubt realized, I specialize in the obscure.)

Anyway, yesterday evening, they officially announced that the adventuring level cap will be raising to 90 with the next expansion. No word yet on whether the guild or tradeskill levels will also be increased. Continue reading ‘A Carnival of Air Circulators’

The Bookbinder, Rings, and Things

This past week has seen many changes. With the advent of GU 52, another questline opened, the Order of Rime (which I mentioned previously), Player-written books (with a quest for Sages) became available, and, today, the monthly “ring” event happened. Continue reading ‘The Bookbinder, Rings, and Things’

Velious Dreams, and Things

As Tipa over at West Karana posted a couple of days ago, the next expansion appears to be Velious.

There are several things which support that assertion:

– The last update saw a severe change in the way that ice is rendered. With very few zones that have ice (Frosfell zones, Everfrost/EF TSO Instances, Permafrost, parts of Kylong Plains), why spend all that time, not to mention money, on something which wasn’t going to affect, by and large, most of the game in the near future?
– On test, you can find members of the Order of Rime faction. Do I really need to belabor that one with an explanation?
– I really want it to be Velious.

Ok….that last one isn’t a real supporting reason, but when has that ever stopped me? Continue reading ‘Velious Dreams, and Things’

Bye bye, Berty

Since the top guilds on Najena Server finally got around to killing her in Palace of the Ancient One, there has recently been a mass movement, at least on my server, of worshippers to Anashti Sul. A large number of those are converting from Bertoxxulous. Continue reading ‘Bye bye, Berty’

An Order of the Flame – To go.

I have spent a good majority of the time, since my last post, that I have been online trying to get that awesome looking flaming carpet. Unfortunately, due to the bug which prevents you from updating the Elemental Mystery questline, I haven’t been able to achieve the 50K Faction needed with the Order of the Flame (Not to be confused with the Order of the Blue Flame – which is something completely different and not associated with EQ2 in any way) in order to purchase it. Continue reading ‘An Order of the Flame – To go.’
